Michael S. Freitas, MD, MSPT

Primary Care Sports Medicine, UB Concussion Management and Research Center
As a fellowship-trained primary care sports medicine physician, I enjoy doing a little bit of everything, from general sports medicine to non-surgical orthopaedics. I treat sprains, strains, fractures and concussions. My practice includes the care of adolescent, college and professional athletes; nonsurgical management of arthritic conditions; acute sports concussion management; ultrasound-guided procedures; and biologic sports medicine therapies including platelet-rich plasma (PRP) treatment.

I love my role in taking care of my patients. I also take great pride in educating our providers of tomorrow — athletic trainers, medical students, residents and fellows. My core principle in teaching my learners is to impart on them ‘how do you want your family member to be treated when they go to the doctor’s office?’ That is our standard. Be the absolute best (doctor, trainer) that you can be, because that patient is someone’s family member, and that is what you owe them.
