Joseph B. Kuechle, MD, PhD
Orthopaedic Oncology, Lower Extremity Joint Replacement & Reconstruction, Trauma Surgery
I work in orthopaedic oncology, as well as lower extremity joint replacement and reconstruction. The unique part of my training has been how to handle the complex problems of patients with cancer, working in a multi-disciplinary approach and with other surgeons. The benefit of having someone trained in orthopaedic oncology is that we see lots of different pathologies, both benign and malignant, and know the appropriate steps to take to treat someone with those types of diseases.
I work with kids and adults of all ages, seeing a wide variety of patients with a wide variety of problems.
The most rewarding part of my job is treating the kids with primary bone tumors — being able to do a wide resection and give them the potential for a lifelong cure.
I am a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the American Physician Scientist Association and the Biomedical Engineering Society.
