
John B. Ortolani, MD
As a native of Buffalo and graduate of the Jacobs School of Medicine, I was particularly excited to join UBMD Surgery in 2017 and have the opportunity to play a role in innovative surgical research and the education of future surgical leaders. Specializing in colon and rectal surgery, I also serve as an attending colon and rectal surgeon at ECMC.
I strive every day to integrate new surgical technology, while also providing the utmost in quality care for my patients.
My areas of expertise include anal fissures, anal fistula, colon & rectal cancer, colonoscopies, crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, diverticulitis, endorectal ultrasound, anal manometry, fecal incontinence, hemorrhoids, laparoscopic surgery, minimally invasive transanal surgery (TEM/TAMIS), rectal prolapse, rectovaginal / colovesical fistula, robotic surgery and sacral nerve stimulator.
Also serving as an Assistant Professor of Surgery at the University at Buffalo Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, I am a member of several medical societies and have received numerous research awards.
